Farmers protest carbon pricing in capital rally

If you ate today, thank a farmer. If you ate in peace, thank a soldier. It seems the government has forgotten the first part. The convoys of tractors rolling into the capital aren't there to cause trouble; they're there because they have no other choice.

Fertilizer restrictions, carbon taxes, red tape—it's a death by a thousand cuts for the family farm. Bureaucrats who have never stepped in a field are writing rules that make it impossible to break even. They call it 'sustainability,' but there's nothing sustainable about bankrupting the people who grow our food.

These men and women are the salt of the earth. They work dawn to dusk, dealing with weather, markets, and now, a hostile government. Their protest is a warning bell. If we crush our agricultural sector, we become dependent on foreign food imports. That is a national security risk. We stand with the farmers because they stand for us.
